Dear Friends,
Although not as fast as I would like, we will keep moving ahead to improve Director and improve our support options. We appreciate your patience and feedback through this process.
New Health Check Service for Hub 2 Users with Subscription
We are excited to announce early access to a new remote diagnostic service designed to optimize and streamline your Insteon network. We have been testing the service with a select number of users and we are now ready to slowly roll this out to a broader group.
This service allows our technicians to identify communication issues, review and clean up device and hub links, examine schedules, scenes, and more. By identifying issues and optimizing performance of your Insteon network, we enhance reliability, and improve your experience. The service also includes a custom report.
The introductory price of $149.95 ($199.95 for multiple homes) includes an in-depth report on your network that is emailed to you and a Zoom meeting or phone call with a senior technician who will provide guidance on next steps should the report indicate issues. While many issues can be fixed during the review, some may require more time, which is why we will include follow up phone calls within 30 days of the initial review. I plan on sitting in on some of these zoom calls.
To participate or learn more about this service, including viewing sample reports, visit the product page here. We are offering a limited number of seats for the early preview.
Status of Devices
We are working on several things to improve accuracy of the status of devices (showing on the tiles whether a device is on/off/brightness). There are multiple things contributing to inaccurate status. Some are related to the app. The most recent release starts to correct some of these issues. We have also found things in the hub that need to be corrected from the old App and older versions of Director. We will continue to work on this problem.
Reminder about Webinar
Our next “Lunch with Insteon” webinar is April 5 at 9am PDT and will include an overview of some of the improvements we have made in the Director app over the past year or so as well as a preview of the health check service. Click here to register.
Tip – 3-Way Switches (multi-way 4 or more)
When you install Insteon switches in a 3-way circuit (2 or more switches wired to the same light fixture), to program them so they are synchronized, you’ll want to create a scene in Director with 3-way switches set as both Director and Actor. Then use the scene to control them, rather than the individual devices in the app.
Cameras
As previously mentioned, we will not be supporting the old Insteon cameras in Director. However, we would like to help our customers find a solution for moving the old Insteon cameras to a new app. For those still using the old Insteon cameras, we will be sharing a video tutorial next month on third-party apps we recommend to view/control them. Stay tuned.
